Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Meet your professional safari driver-guide and begin your journey towards southwestern Uganda.

As you leave Kampala, the scenery gradually changes from urban surroundings to countryside, with beautiful landscapes, local communities, farms and rolling hills along the way.

You will have the opportunity to make a stop at the Equator in Kayabwe, where you can take photographs and experience standing in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Continue your journey towards southwestern Uganda, with lunch at a suitable restaurant along the way.

After lunch, continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

As you approach Bwindi, the landscape becomes increasingly mountainous and lush, with spectacular views of the hills and forests of southwestern Uganda.

Arrive at your lodge in the evening and check in.

Relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before your exciting gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Your guide will brief you about the trek, including what to wear, what to carry and the general gorilla trekking guidelines.

Dinner and overnight at your selected lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is the highlight of your 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your lodge before heading to the gorilla trekking briefing point.

The exact briefing location will depend on your gorilla trekking sector and permit.

Gorilla Trekking Briefing

At the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters, you will meet your ranger guides and trackers.

Before entering the forest, the rangers will explain:

• Gorilla trekking rules
• Safety procedures
• Photography guidelines
• How to behave around gorillas
• Maintaining the required distance
• What to expect during the trek

You will then be allocated a habituated gorilla family.

Trek Through Bwindi Forest

Your adventure begins as you enter the dense Bwindi rainforest.

The trek can be challenging because of the steep terrain, thick vegetation and sometimes muddy trails. The duration varies depending on where the gorilla family is located.

As you walk through the forest, your experienced ranger guides and trackers will search for signs of the gorillas.

Along the way, you may also encounter beautiful forest vegetation, butterflies, birds and other wildlife.

The Gorilla Encounter

When the gorilla family is located, you will spend up to one hour observing them, following the applicable park regulations and ranger instructions.

This is your opportunity to watch the gorillas in their natural habitat as they feed, rest, groom, play and interact with one another.

After the encounter, you will trek back through the forest to the park headquarters.

Your driver-guide will meet you and transfer you back to your lodge.

The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax and recover after the trek.

You may also choose to enjoy an optional community or cultural experience, depending on your interests and available time.

Day 3: Bwindi – Kampala/Entebbe

Wake up and enjoy breakfast at your lodge.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.

You will travel through the beautiful landscapes of southwestern Uganda, with opportunities to stop for photographs and refreshments along the way.

Depending on your schedule, you may stop for lunch en route.

Continue towards Kampala and finally Entebbe.

Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
