10 Days Luxury Kenya & Uganda Safari (Amboseli, Maasai Mara & Gorilla Trekking) – Day by Day
Day 1: Nairobi – Transfer to Amboseli National Park
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be met by your professional safari guide and begin your journey south to Amboseli National Park. The drive is scenic, passing through local towns and open plains as you approach one of Kenya’s most iconic elephant parks. You will arrive in time for check-in and lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds and dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering excellent opportunities for photography. After the game drive, return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Amboseli National Park – Full Day Safari
This day is dedicated to exploring Amboseli on a full safari experience. After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive when wildlife is most active. You will return later for lunch and relaxation, then enjoy another afternoon game drive through the park’s swamps and open plains. Wildlife commonly seen includes elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and a variety of bird species, with chances of spotting predators such as lions and hyenas. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Amboseli – Fly to Maasai Mara
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for check-in and lunch. Later, head out for an afternoon game drive in one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. The Maasai Mara is renowned for its abundant wildlife and excellent predator sightings, especially big cats. After the game drive, return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Maasai Mara – Full Day Safari
Spend a full day exploring the Maasai Mara with extensive game viewing. You may choose to enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, or take a full-day safari with a picnic lunch in the reserve. This day offers outstanding chances of seeing the Big Five, including lions, elephants, buffalo and, with luck, leopard and rhino. During the migration season (typically July to October), you may witness large herds and dramatic river crossing scenes. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Maasai Mara – Fly to Nairobi – Fly to Uganda
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, connect to your international flight to Entebbe, Uganda. After landing, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after travel and prepare for the next stage of your journey. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 6: Entebbe – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to Uganda’s mountain gorillas. Depending on the schedule and preference, this journey can be completed by domestic flight followed by a road transfer, or by a scenic overland drive through Uganda’s countryside. Upon arrival, check in and enjoy the peaceful rainforest surroundings. Later in the day, you may relax at the lodge or take an optional community or nature walk if time allows. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Day 7: Bwindi – Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for registration and a full briefing by the ranger team. You will then begin your guided trek through the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. Trek durations vary depending on where the gorillas are located, but once found, you will be allowed one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your accommodation for lunch and a well-deserved rest. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Day 8: Bwindi – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, check out and begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive is scenic and offers changing landscapes, including rolling hills, tea plantations, crater lakes and local villages. Arrive at the park and check in at your accommodation, followed by lunch. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in the park’s savannah plains, searching for elephants, buffalo, antelope species and predators such as lions. Return later for lunch, then proceed for an afternoon boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. This cruise is one of the best wildlife experiences in Uganda, offering close-up sightings of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and a wide variety of birdlife along the shores. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Queen Elizabeth – Return to Entebbe – Departure
After breakfast, check out and begin your transfer back to Entebbe for your international departure flight. Depending on your travel schedule, the return journey can be by road with scenic stops or by domestic flight for a quicker connection. Arrive in Entebbe in time for check-in and onward travel arrangements, marking the end of your luxury Kenya and Uganda safari.
