Best Time for Uganda & Tanzania Safari
The Uganda and Tanzania safari can be enjoyed throughout the year, although different seasons offer different advantages.
June to October is generally excellent for wildlife viewing, with drier conditions making animals easier to spot.
January to February can be particularly interesting for travelers interested in the wildebeest calving season in Tanzania.
For gorilla trekking, Uganda can be visited year-round, although the drier months are often preferred for trekking conditions.
If your main goal is the Great Migration, the itinerary should be customized around the seasonal movement of the wildebeest rather than simply selecting a fixed month.
Why Combine Uganda and Tanzania?
Combining Uganda and Tanzania allows you to experience two very different sides of East Africa.
Uganda offers lush forests, mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, dramatic landscapes and authentic cultural experiences, while Tanzania offers vast savannahs and some of Africa’s greatest concentrations of iconic wildlife.
Instead of choosing between a gorilla safari and a classic African wildlife safari, this itinerary allows you to experience both.
